Julia's Story 20

Chapter 20
The next morning Julia and Leo got up to train. They battle against each other to see what they could improve on. Tatako got up later, watched them battle, and even drew a few of them. Later that day they got a visitor.

"Mom? Dad? What are you doing here?" Julia asked as she saw her parents.

"Soon you and Leo are going to be fighting so we thought we'd come to cheer you on." Ash explained.

Julia smiled and said, "Great."

Julia introduced them to Tatako and they went back to training. Ash had even brought Cosmo with them so Julia could train her Aura. Julia spent time training with Cosmo trying to get the power that had happened before. But after the third try, it still hadn't worked.

"Man I just can't make it happen again." Julia said to herself.

"Make what happen?" Ash asked.

"Well Team Rocket attacked after they attack you guys. When I had the dome up and the Ursaring were attacking with Hyper Beam, it's like I was able to reflect the Hyper Beam back." Julia explained.

"What exactly happened?" Ash asked.

Julia explained everything to the black collars to what happened with her Aura.

Ash thought for a moment, "That shouldn't be possible. That's a powerful move."

Julia looked confused and Ash explained, "What you did with the Aura is turn the attack against them because you were trying to protect someone or something. That's the only way for that to happen but it's very powerful."

"Well that explains why I passed out after words."

"And you said that the Ursaring had black collars around them? That could be some kind of controlling devise." Ash explained.

"So what do we do?" Julia said.

"I need to teach you how to sense things with your Aura before you face Team Rocket again. Come on Julia I need to train you." Ash said before he walked off.

Julia and Yuki followed him as did her friends. Ash called out his Lucario and pulled out a piece of cloth.

"Ok you already know how to dodge Cosmo moves when you can see. But to sense with the Aura you have to do it when you can't." Ash explained as her walked over to Julia and tied to cloth around her eyes.

"Are you sure about this dad?" Julia asked.

"This is the best way to do it. We'll start off with Aura Sphere." Ash said nodded towards Cosmo.

Cosmo fired off an Aura Sphere, Julia tried to dodge, but it hit. Julia fell back with a thud and got back up again. They tried again and again but Julia just couldn't do it. Julia almost got it once but it still didn't work. They took a short break to make Julia wasn't too hurt.

"I think Cosmo is softening the blows." Ash said.

"I don't get it. Why can't I do this?" Julia asked.

Ash smiled and said, "This move is a lot more advanced than the other move I taught you so it's going to take more time to learn."

Julia nodded and they continued to train. Over the next few days, Julia spent the first half of the day training with her Pokémon and the last half of the day with Cosmo. Julia spent a lot of time training and soon she thought she was ready to face Drake. Ash told them that Drake was Pummelo Island and that they would leave tomorrow. Tatako told them that she was coming too and they agreed.

The next day they got ready to go. They were about to leave when something grabbed Pikachu and Yuki. They looked up to see a balloon high in the sky. Hal and Diana were riding in it.

"Hey give them back." Julia shouted.

"No way. They're ours now." Hal said.

"Yuki use Shadow Ball." Julia shouted again.

Yuki tried but it failed. Hal and Diana started to laugh.

"We made these cages so their powers wouldn't work." Hal said.

"Let's go." Diana said.

The balloon started to fly away but then something ram into it. It looked like a Pokémon but not one Julia had seen before.

"That's a Wartortle." Ash said.

"It looks like it wants to help." Julia said.

The Wartortle landed in front of Ash and smiled.

Ash looked at it and asked, "Squirtle? Is that you?"

Wartortle nodded and Ash smiled, "Squirtle wow you've evolved."

"Who?" Julia said.

"That Wartortle use to be your father's Squirtle." Misty answered.

"Oh ok."

"Wartortle can you help us get Pikachu and Yuki back?" Ash asked.

Wartortle smiled, turned around, and shot a Hydro Pump at the balloon. The balloon was too far away so it missed.

"It missed but I have an idea. Go Pidgeot." Julia said throwing out her Pokeball.

Pidgeot came out and Ash said, "Oh I get it. Wartortle get on to Pidgeot's back."

Wartortle jumped on and Pidgeot took off. When they got closer Wartortle shot off another Hydro Pump. The attack tore a giant hole into the balloon. Hal and Diana screamed as the balloon came down. Everyone followed the balloon as it landed. The cages broke and released Pikachu and Yuki.

Pikachu and Yuki ran back to their masters. Hal and Diana got up and called out their Pokémon. But before they could Wartortle shot them with a Water Pulse. Pikachu used Thunderbolt and Yuki used Shadow Ball. The three attacks caused an explosion which sent Team Rocket flying.

Wartortle turned to Ash and said, "War Wartortle."

Julia looked at Ash and asked, "What did he say?"

"He wants to come with me." Ash said pulling out a blank Pokeball.

Ash threw it and Wartortle jumped into it. The Pokeball shook three times before it caught. Ash went over and picked it up.

"Welcome back old friend." Ash said.

Finally they set out for Pummelo Island. Misty had brought her Gyarados also so Ash and Misty rode on that. It took about three hours to get to Pummelo Island. They all dismounted and called back their Pokémon.

"So you're here?" asked a voice.

Julia turned and said, "Tamaki how are you?"

"Fine. I'm getting ready to battle Drake."

"Yeah so are me and Leo."

They talked a little bit before Tamaki went off to train. They went off to heal their Pokémon at the Pokémon Center. After they decided to relax a little thinking that Drake would be busy with other battles so they'd talk to him tomorrow.

"Wonder if Luke is going to show?" Julia said.

"Who's Luke?" Misty asked.

"Luke is a boy we meet on Fairchild Island. He was picking on a little girl named Lilly. I guess that they had a Pokémon battle and Luke had won so he was going to take her Pokémon friends." Julia explained.

"That's just wrong." Ash said.

"Yeah but we stopped him. Well I should say that Lilly stopped him after I trained her a little bit." Julia said.

Leo looked up and smiled, "And speaking of Lilly, looks who's here."

Julia looked up and saw Lilly and Aurora looking around.

Julia smiled and called out, "Hey Lilly!"

Lilly looked over to them, smiled, and ran over followed by her mother. Julia bent so she could hug Lilly.

"Hey Lilly how are you?" Julia said when she released Lilly.

"Fine." Lilly said smiling.

"And how have you been doing Julia?" Aurora asked.

Julia stood up and said, "Great. I'm planning to go up against Drake in a few days."

"I know. We found out that you had all your badges and…well Lilly just had to come see you battle Drake." Aurora explained.

Julia smiled and asked, "Have you had any more problems with Luke?"

Aurora shook her head, "Not since Lilly beat him."

Ash walked over and said, "You must be Lilly's mother. I'm Ash Julia's father."

"I'm Aurora. I must say your daughter is a fine trainer."

Julia laughed a little and said, "What can say? I learned from the best."

They all laughed a little and then they heard clapping.

Julia turned around and sighed, "What do you want?"

There stood Luke with his Blaziken standing behind him. Leo's Sceptile released himself and looked ready to fight the Blaziken.

"I just came over here to say hi and to find out what your name is?" Luke said looking at Julia.

"Julia Ketchum."

"Julia Ketchum huh? Well Julia just to tell you Lilly got lucky in our battle. If you hadn't trained her she couldn't have won." Luke said looking at Lilly.

"Hey Lilly won because she was friends with her Pokémon and they trusted her." Leo said.

"Hahaha Like that makes a difference. Making 'friends' with your Pokémon doesn't help at all." Luke said.

"What did you say?" Julia asked.

"You heard me."

"That's it!" Julia said pulling out one of her Pokeballs.

Luke smiled and pulled one out too, "So you want to battle huh?"

There was a stare off until they heard, "That's enough."

They looked to see a man standing nearby. He wore dark cloths and a Pokeball around his neck.

Ash smiled slightly and said, "Drake."

"That's Drake?" Julia asked.

Drake walked over and said, "Yes that's me. And you two stop this. I want to battle you when you're at your best not weak."

"Whatever." Luke turned and walked away.

Drake sighed slightly and said, "So Ash what are you doing here?"

"I'm here to watch my daughter Julia battle you."

"Is that so?" Drake said

Julia nodded and said, "My father says that your pretty tough. So Leo and I want to fight you."

"I understand. In a few minutes I'm going to be fighting that boy that walked away so I'll battle you tomorrow ok?" Drake asked.

Julia nodded, "Ok that's fine."

"Good." Drake said before he walked away.

"You should watch them battle. Then you'll know what you two are going up against." Misty said walking up.

Julia agreed and they all went to get seats. They stadium was packed but they found a place to sit. Then Drake walked out and everyone there cheered. Luke was the next to come out and waited for the battle to start.

"Show me your badges." Drake said.

Luke pulled out his badges and Drake smiled. Drake called out his Ditto and Luke called out his Scizor. The Ditto transformed into the Scizor and they were ready to fight. The round was quick with Luke's Scizor fainting. Luke called him back and called out his Blaziken. This time Blaziken made short work of the wounded Ditto.

"That Blaziken is good." Julia said.

Drake called back his Ditto and smiled slightly. Drake called out his Onix but Luke keep out his Blaziken. Blaziken only had to use a few fire attacks to faint the Onix.

"That was a good call. Onix is weak against fire type Pokémon." Ash said.

"Yeah but his Blaziken is weak for battling. It's not going to last much longer." Julia said.

Julia was right because once Gengar came out; it only took one hit to bring him down. Luke called out his Skarmory and Gengar attacked. The attack went back and forward both trying to bring the other down. The battle ended when both Pokémon fainted. Drake called out Vensaur and Luke call out Tyranitar. Luke started to have problems beating Vensaur because Tyranitar fainted and Vensaur wasn't badly hurt. The next one out was Kingdra who only lasted about two minutes.

"Luke is not going to win this." Leo said.

"Luke's down to his last Pokémon while Drake still has two unused Pokémon. Unless this Pokémon is very powerful, there's no way he can win." Ash said.

Luke sighed and looked at his Pokeball. He threw it and the Pokémon inside shocked everyone. It had short, orange-brown fur that covered its body, except for its mouth and the crescent moon marking on its heads, which is a light tan. It had a small, round body with short limbs and a short, puffy tail. It had circular eyes with blue irises, three claws on its forepaws, and two on its feet, on which there is a circular yellow paw pad on the underside.

"That's a Teddiursa." Misty said.

"Why does Luke have a Teddiursa?" Julia asked.

Leo thought for a moment and said, "Maybe he waiting for it to evolve. Teddiursa evolves into an Ursaring."

Teddiursa attacked but Vensaur looked like he didn't even feel it. Vensaur knocked it away but Teddiursa got back up and attacked again. This time Vensaur used Vine Wipe to slam it into the ground. Luke yelled at it to get up and Teddiursa barely got up again. Julia was getting upset as she watched Teddiursa get knocked away again and Luke yelled at it again. 'He's pushing Teddiursa too hard. There is no way that Teddiursa can beat Vensaur by itself.' She thought as she watched Teddiursa stand up again. It was barely standing up. Vensaur finished it when it slammed Teddiursa into the ground again.

Luke looked mad and called Teddiursa back. Then he walked out of the Stadium and Julia got up. Julia wanted to make sure that Teddiursa was ok so she needed to find Luke. Her friends and family followed her. She found Luke at the Pokémon Center.

"Luke is Teddiursa ok?" Julia asked when she got close enough.

"I don't know and I really don't care." Luke said with a sigh.

"WHAT?" Julia yelled.

"That thing is weak and of no use to me." Luke said.

"So why did you catch it?" Julia shouted.

Luke sighed and said, "I wanted an Ursaring but Teddiursa won't evolve."

Julia looked ready to hit Luke but Ash placed a hand on her shoulder to stop her, "Teddiursa is not ready to evolve yet."

"That why I thought it would when it went up against the Vensaur." Luke said.

Leo asked, "Wait you planned this?"

Luke sigh, "Yeah so what?"

Julia was mad, "If you want an Ursaring so bad, then why don't you go to the Johto Region and catch one."

Luke was about to say something when Nurse Joy walked up.

"Your Pokémon are ready for you." She smiled.

"Thanks." He said taking his Pokeballs.

He brought out Teddiursa and threw its Pokeball. Teddiursa was surrounded by a light blue and it looked around confused.

Luke looked at it and said, "You're gone Teddiursa. I don't need you anymore."

Teddiursa looked confused and Luke just walked away. They watched as Luke walked out of the Pokémon Center. Teddiursa sat down and started to cry. Julia looked at it and sighed slightly. Julia walked over to it, bent down next to it, and brought it up into her arms. Teddiursa stopped crying and looked at Julia.

Julia smiled and said softly, "It's ok Teddiursa. You don't need Luke anymore."

Teddiursa was starting to calm down but still looked upset.

Julia thought for a moment and said, "Why don't you come with me?"

Teddiursa looked at Julia who smiled, "I'll train you so that you can get stronger and we won't have to worry about evolving. What do you say Teddiursa?"

Teddiursa smiled, "Teddiursa!"

Julia stood up bring Teddiursa up with her, "Alright Teddiursa you're with me from now on."

"Teddiursa Teddiursa!"

Julia smiled as Teddiursa cheered happily.
