Julia's Story 7

Chapter 7
The next day, she looked at the guide and saw a faster route to Fuchsia City. She smiled and went off. It was a nice day and it didn't look like Team Rocket was nearby. It took Julia a few hours before she got to a huge lake. Julia looked around and saw a bridge nearby. She ran over to it and saw a man standing there.

"Hello!" Julia called.

The man turned to her and said, "Hello."

Julia looked at the bridge and asked, "Is that the way to Fuchsia City?"

The man nodded and said, "This is the bicycle road. You can only go on it if you have a bicycle."

"Which I don't have." Julia said with a sigh.

"Then the only way to get to Fuchsia City is to backtrack all the way to Vermilion City and take Route 11. Follow that route until you get to Fuchsia City."

Julia sighed, said good bye to him, and started walking away.  This is the only thing Julia hated about going after Gym Badge. She knew you could never just go one way. She walked right through Celadon City as well as Saffron City. Julia stopped to rest and eat at Vermilion City.  

She was about to leave when someone said, "Hey you!"

Julia turned to see an old man standing there.

He smiled and said, "You look like a Pokémon trainer."

Julia nodded and said, "That's because I am."

"Well do you know how to catch Pokémon underwater?" The man said.  

Julia shook her head and the man pulled something out. It looked like a stick with a string attached to it.

"It's called an Old Rod." He said handing it to her.

"Thank you." Julia said taking it.

The man smiled, "I think I should tell you that I'm a one of the Fishing Brothers. And if you ever in Fuchsia City you should talk to my brother."

The man turned and walked away. Julia smiled slightly and put the rod in her bag. Yuki jumped onto her shoulder and looked confused.

"Well he gave it to us so I'm not just going to leave it here." Julia said walking out of the city.

Yuki nodded and looked around. They were walking on a road and there was a cave close by. Julia saw it too and started to walk towards it. But then a hole opened up under them. This time Julia landed on her feet even if the hole looked a little deeper than before.

"Hey Let Me Out!" She shouted.

Then she heard laughing and sighed. Moments later Hal and Diana were standing at the top of the hole.

  "Of course it had to be you two." Julia said.

"Yeah it's us. Now hand over your Pokémon." Hal said.

"No way." Julia said sitting down.

"Fine have it your way." Diana said.

They were about to pull something out when to ground started to shake. Julia stood up and looked around.

"What's going on?" Julia asked.

Yuki looked up and called out. Julia looked up only to see Team Rocket falling down. Julia was able to move out of the way in time and sighed. Then something popped out of the wall.

"What is that?"

"Dig Diglett." It said.

"Diglett?" Julia pulled out her Pokedex.

Julia listened and looked at the Diglett. Diglett looked happy and called out. More Diglett started to appear creating a line to the top.

Julia looked back at the Diglett and said, "Are you trying to help us out?"

Diglett nodded and Julia smiled. Julia carefully climbed up the line of Diglett so she wouldn't hurt them. Soon she got to the top and laid on the ground. Julia sighed and looked back down the hole. The only thing she saw was Team Rocket knocked out and no Diglett. Then one suddenly appeared right in front of her causing her to jump slightly.

"There you are. Thank you for helping us Diglett." Julia said.

Yuki smiled and nodded. Diglett looked happy and then went back into the ground. Julia watched as they tried to lift Team Rocket. They weren't strong enough and they looked upset. Then something else appeared and it looked three Diglett stuck together. They easy lifted Team Rocket and got them out of the hole. They were still knocked out and the Pokémon appeared again.

"Dugtrio!" It said.

Julia looked at her Pokedex and then understood.

Julia smiled slightly and said, "Ummm….Thank you Dugtrio…."

Dugtrio then disappeared into the ground with the Diglett. Julia didn't see them so she left Team Rocket there and continued on her way. Later she found another bridge and looked at her guide. She walked up to the bridge and saw a man sitting there.

Julia walked up to him, "Ummm…Hello?"

The man turned and he looked like one of the Fishing Brothers.

"Hello what are you doing here?" he asked.

"I'm on my way to Fuchsia City. Who are you? Are you one of the Fishing Brothers?" Julia asked.

"You must have met my brother. Here this is for you." He said handing her another rod.

It looked a lot stronger than the Old Rod she had and it looked a lot better.

"It's called the Super Rod. You can catch a lot of different Water Pokémon with this rod."

Julia took the rod and asked, "How do I use it?"

The old man motioned her to follow him. Julia walked to the edge of the bridge.

"Now cast the lure into the water and wait. Once you feel a tug on the rod that means you caught something. You will have to rill it in before it gets away." The man explained.

Julia cast the lure just like she was suppose to. Then Julia sat down to wait and Yuki jumped off her shoulder. At times she would only feel a little tug and she would sigh. About 5 minutes later, Julia felt a good tug on her rod.

"I got something." She said as she riled it in.

Whatever was on the other end was putting up a pretty good fight. Soon Julia was able to get it out of the water only to find out it was a Gyarados. The Gyarados roared loudly and Julia looked a little scared. Then she called out her Pidgeotto and it attacked. Gyarados dodged and attacked. Pidgeotto took the hit and then attacked with Wing Attack and then quickly used Gust. Both attacks hit and Gyarados attacked again.

He missed and Pidgeotto attacked the same way again. This time Gyarados fell and Julia threw a Pokeball. It shook three times before it caught. Julia looked happy but then the Pokeball started to shake again. They all watched as it shook three more times before it caught again. This time they waited to see what would happen. When nothing happened, Julia walked over and picked up the Pokeball.

"Alright I caught a Gyarados." Julia said.

Yuki smiled and jumped back onto Julia's shoulder. Julia put the rod in her bag, said good bye to the man, and went on her way. The sun was starting to set by the time she reached Route 14. Julia smiled slightly and they set up camp. In the morning they got up and headed off. Yuki walked right beside Julia who was smiling. It took them an hour to reach Fuchsia City. When they got there, Julia went to the Pokémon Center to heal her Pokémon.

When they were healed, Julia wanted to train her new Gyarados. She called out Gyarados who didn't look too happy.

  "Ok Gyarados use Bite."

Gyarados didn't do anything and Julia told him again. Gyarados swatted Julia with his tail.

"Hey what did you do that for?" Julia said standing back up.

Gyarados humped and used Hyper Beam on Julia. She jumped out of the way and Julia called him back. Julia sat on the ground and thought 'Why won't Gyarados listen to me?' Julia sighed and stood up. She walked inside the Center where the Nurse Joy was waiting.

Nurse Joy walked up to Julia and asked, "Are you alright? I saw that attack almost hit you."

Julia said, "I'm fine….."

Nurse Joy looked relieved and smiled. Julia smiled a little too but it quickly faded.

"You know the way Gyarados was acting was slight normal. Gyarados does have a bad temper and when it gets mad it's hard to calm down." Nurse Joy explained.

"But I didn't do anything to it. Why was it acting like that?" Julia asked.

"Maybe Gyarados just needs some time to warm up to you. Pokémon and trainer have to know each other well before making a good bond so don't worry." Nurse Joy said.

Julia smiled again and Yuki sighed a little. Julia didn't try again to train Gyarados fearing he would still be mad at her. 'Hopefully Nurse Joy is right….Maybe Gyarados just needs time.' She thought. Julia waited until the next day to go to the Gym.
