Pokémon On The Switch

I really didn’t want to do this but it seems like every time I throw my opinion out there, someone comes and tells me that I’m not thinking right. So, since Youtube doesn’t really allow for very long-winded stuff like this, I guess DeviantART will have to put up with it so I can defend myself.

Starting off, would I like to see a main series Pokémon coming to the Switch?

I think that given time I would be ok with it. We all do have to move on at some point after all.

Am I happy with the E3 presentation for Pokémon?

No, I am not.

Now I know some of you are asking why? Why I am ok with the idea of a game on the Switch but not happy with the E3 presentation? It’s very simple. It’s too soon. I was really not expecting them to even announce that there would be a main series Pokémon game for the Switch for at least a year. And I know that they’ve done this before but that was with the hand helds. For hand helds, there will be some things that they just can’t do and I am perfectly fine with this. Over the years, they’ve been able to figure out everything that they needed to know in order to make these games the best they could. Sure, I know some people would argue a few points here or there about these games but overall, we can say that these games are pretty good. Now why do I not like the Switch idea yet? Because it’s too soon. The Switch just came out in March and yes, I know that the Pokémon game isn’t even coming out until next year. That’s not my point. My point is that there really aren’t a whole lot of games right now that show off what this system can actually do. You can sit there and tell me about all of the stuff that it can do but I’ll tell you right now I won’t understand a word of it. I’m not good with technology half of the time and the other half to stuff I know how to do. So, go on. Tell me everything that the Switch can do. That’s great you can tell me…..but can you show me what it can do?

Can you show me five different games from five different genres that are only on the Switch that can show me what kind of a system this console is? I do not count Breath of the Wild or any other games that can be on a different platform. They must only be on the Switch and nothing else. I bet you can’t. Want to know why? Most of the games for the Switch aren’t even released yet. When I looked up games for the Switch, all I saw were Pre-Orders not actually released games. So how do you expect me to be able to understand this system when it has two games tops that might be able to show off what it can actually do? People have told me that time would fix everything but you don’t know that. Unless you have some ESP that can tell me that this game will work out and there will be nothing to worry about, then I’ll believe you. Until then, there’s a lot of things that could go wrong.

First of all, there are not even enough Switches to go around. Sure, Nintendo’s trying to make more but my brother also told me that there’s a company out there that is trying to buy the complete stock of one of the parts that is needed for the Switch. If that company completely buys the stock, then Nintendo won’t have the part they need to have this work. I can hear you saying, well it’s not going to last all that long. You don’t know that. If that company does it once, what’s going to stop them from continuing to buy the stock so that way Nintendo could never buy it? I’ll tell you what, Nothing. Nothing going to stop them from continuing to buy the stock so Nintendo can’t get it. If they did it once and they saw they can do it, you can bet that they are going to keep buying up the part. That’s just how businesses going against each other work guys. And if Nintendo can’t get that part then they can’t build the Switch.

Secondly, the Pokémon company needs to build an engine that can run on this new system. And I’m not talking about just reworking the current engine they have. They would have to rebuild the engine from the ground up. My brother is going into Game programing and he said that they would have to do it. He even said it would be difficult to do. As said before, you could tell me all day what the Switch can do but it all comes down to the company being able to make a game that can be supported by this new engine. Which means there are stuff that can go wrong. What if they can’t get all of the Pokémon to work? What if they can’t get the Megas or Z-Crystals to work on this new engine? They’re not going to want to leave that stuff out of their games which means that the game will be pushed back and pushed back and pushed back. Then everyone will get upset that the game is getting pushed back even though we would be lucky to even get the game at that point.

Thirdly, money issues are going on in a lot of Pokémon fans so I’m not going to spend a whole lot of time on this one. And before you say anything, I have money issue too ok? My brother has had to buy the last 3 Pokémon games for me and he’s probably going to have to buy Ultra Sun for me as well. I must use what money I do have for other more important things, like keeping my car running and bills, instead of games ok?

Overall, we just don’t know what’s going to happen a year from now. Nintendo could close its doors tomorrow for no reason and there would nothing we could do about it. Someone could find a major flaw in the Switch which would make it impossible to use. So, for me, with this massive and very different system then what we are used it, it’s too soon for them to even been announcing a game. If everything turns out fine and I’m proven wrong, then fine. I’m not going to lose sleep over it. But if everything goes wrong between now and then, I will really have to hold myself back from saying I told you so.
